Kuai Shen is a media artist and ant lover from Ecuador, working in both South-America and Germany. During his residency with us – and Kulturprinsen as our collaborator – he was working at Viborg Kunsthal. His stay was a part of the Earthbound Residencies by Secret Hotel (website).

His techno-ecological installations reflect on the inter-species relationship between ants and humans, and he works in the intersection between art and science in an innovative way. Through light-sensors, lasers and contact-microphones, the ants are given different languages which he, as an artist, can mediate and use to create artistic forms and acoustic compositions.

During the residency Kuai facilitated two workshops for children and gave artist talks at Viborg Kunsthal and AROS.
